Why Donate?
Responsible for serving the entire population of Kentucky, the Markey Cancer Center is the only one of its kind for state residents. Kentucky is battling a cancer epidemic, being the state with the highest rates of cancer incidence and mortality—13% higher than the national average.
Especially impacted, the Appalachian Region is driving these rates up. Impacted by poverty, medical illiteracy, a smoking epidemic, and coal mining, rural Kentucky is a victim to cancer disparities in the United States. Kentucky is leading in new cases of lung cancer, and has the second highest rates of colon and pancreatic cancer.

NextGen Debate values medical literacy and funding for healthcare. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, our nonprofit gives every cent we make to cancer research and aims to contribute to a healthier Kentucky one step at a time.
